MUFONs Identified Object Encyclopedia:

  The IDobject is an ongoing collection of objects which give the illusion of not being the normal ordinary objects to which we are accustomed. Weather, visibility, environment, terrain, time of day, human vision, human fatigue, and the lack of knowledge about the object are a few of the possible reasons for the misidentification of an object. The IDobject may assist the UFO field investigator and the general public when considering normal objects as the potential source of the observed object. The IDobject is NOT designed to explain, trivialize, or debunk any object witnessed by an observer.

Stellarium Astronomical Software:

  This software allows you to input the geographical coordinates, date and time of a sighting, and will generate a view of the visible astronomical objects in the sky.

Weather Underground:

  An excellent tool to obtain historical weather data. Just select Historical from the menu and enter the zip and date. It lists the weather for that 24 hour period

Heavens Above:

  Track Satellites, space station, space debris, comets, and planets. You will need to create an account, but once logged in you can find info for almost every known object orbiting the earth. To gain experience I suggest tracking satellites, especially Iridium Flares, in your area. Iridiums are quite often reported as UFOs. Once you observe one yourself, you will easily recognize witness reports of Iridium Flares.

  National UFO Reporting Center. Unfortunately not all UFOs are reported through MUFON. On NUFORC home page - Left hand side - Click on Report Database - Then on Index by State - to see if additional sightings have been reported which would corroborate your witness report.
