MUFON Symposium 2009

Day #1 - 8/6/2009

Thurs morning began with Registration from 8:00am to 8:30am.

8:45 - 9:45am - Jan Harzan did a presentation on the "10 Step Investigation Process", Jan is a great guy and I'm getting to know him well. His presentation was basically the same as last years however.

10:00am - 11:00am - Jude Talaba and Terry Groff did a great presentation on CMS Basics. I have been hanging out with Terry, Jude and a few other of Terry's people from Texas. A very nice group!! I feel this presentation on DVD will be a valuable training tool.

11:15am - 12:15pm - Debbie Zeigelmeyer and her brother Chuck Zukowski did a fine presentation on "Field Work Basics". I had the opportunity to chat with Debbie and Chuck and they are very nice people. Debbie is an accomplished diver and spoke on USO's and the MUFON Dive Team, while Chuck, who is a part time Sherrif's Deputy, spoke on how to investigate cattle mutilations.

After lunch, 1:00pm - 2:00pm - Our own Marc D'Antonio gave an impressive presentation on the basics of photo and video analysis. Marc is a very funny guy and I've had several conversations with him thus far.

2:15pm - 3:15pm - Chuck Modlin did a presentation on Field Investigator Equipment - Far Out Gadgets. Chuck is the Technical and Radiation expert for the Star Impact Team.

3:30 - 4:30pm - Rich Lang was initially going to speak on Witness Interview Techniques, however he switched his talk to coverage of the Star Team Project to clarify some things. I have worked extensively with Rich to clear up some CMS/SIP related issues due to it's growing pains. Rich is the head of the SIP Project.

4:45pm - 6:00pm - Marc D'Antonio once again gave a super presentation on "Astronomy 101 for Field Investigators.

After a 2 hour break for dinner, I attended a Star Team meeting from 8:00pm to 10:00pm. Needless to say I was exhausted!!

Day #2 - 8/7/2009

Friday was another very busy day here in Denver.

I was in State Director's and Business Board Meetings from 9:00am - 3:30pm. I presented my Annual Report at the meetings and also presented the Annual Report for Alaska for my friend, Alaska State Director, Brent Mitchell.

Press conferences with the news media were also held today.

After a cocktail hour from 5:00pm - 6:00pm, James Carrion, International Director, officially opened the conference at 6:00pm and opening speaker Stan Friedman gave a riveting and extremely funny presentation on "Pseudoscience of Anti-Ufology".

Carol Weigold joined our table for dinner and then the awards ceremony was held. Former International Directors Walt Andrus and John Schussler were honored with awards and a hysterically funny roast. This years award for Researcher of the Year was awarded very deservingly to Bruce McCabee.

The rest of the evening was enjoyed in the company of Terry Groff and Jan Harzan.
